My Book Year 2025 - Gifted Reads and More!

It's year FIFTEEN of my reading challenge blog, and this year I'm focusing on reading all those books that people have gifted to me that have always gone to the bottom of the pile of unread tomes. No longer will they languish in the gathering dust, but instead, they'll be given the priority they deserve! Oh, and I'm going to try and read more in general after a couple of years of struggling to muster up more than 5-10 minutes at the end of a day. Let's go!

Week 5 - At last, something is happening in The Path of Daggers

Well thank goodness for that! I can now report that not only has the central character (Rand Al'Thor) appeared on page 248, but we now have a bit of action in what I feared was going to be a very disappointing read of book 8 of The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. I'm glad I persisted with this epic, as we now have action, tension and anticipation as to when the big confrontation is going to happen. Will keep you posted.

Progress on the other books is that I'm about halfway through The Solitary Man, by Stephen Leather (lots of action, but a bit on the grim side ... but what can you expect from a story centred around the drug trade!). Meanwhile, in the more genteel surroundings of Cranford - it's early days, but at least there haven't been any murders as yet!

Glad things are moving now; sometimes it pays to persist is our lesson I guess.
I am about a third of the way through 'Restless' as seeing it in the library and knowing you rated it highly, thought I'd give it a go. It's good, isn't it! Love both parts of the story and both main characters.Am trying to restrain myself from gobbling it up whole and not doing anything else.

Glad that you are enjoying Restless - sometimes it's tough making recommendations as the other reader might not get why you thought the book was so good. But then, if we all loved exactly the same book - there'd be no hope for the thousands of authors and prospective authors out there.
